  • Hammond M-3 generator and manual

    Hello!
Question - Is it easier to remove the tone generator in the M-3 or the manuals? I need to lighten this thing up to get it upstairs and this seems to be the only alternative after months of trying to get help. I realize its a mess of soldering, etc., but the alternative is to get rid of the organ. I would rather not have to give it up. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Also, since I NEVER use the vibrato on the M-3 (just don't like the sound, even when they are working properly) can I remove the vibrato line box and leave it out, or is it necessary for the function of the unit?

Furniture skidder/stair climber? Available at any reputable tool rental outfit. If the stairs have a turn? Try and find someone else to 'save' the M3?
If something that well made isn't worth the price of a move? Please let someone else with easier ergonomics have a go at it.
M series organs have no terminal strip on the tone generator, the wires splay out to the filters.Three times as much work as a console to remove.

The vib line should be left intact.Even if you NEVER use it.......the other half of the switches need something attached.

An L100 you could safely 'end over end' up a staircase. And they weigh 50 pounds less.
    Terminal strip and AC panel....
Takes me 30 minutes....makes it 90 pounds less!

If you have great soldering skills then have at 'er! If not,you are in over your head in the deep end fast!
I learned most of what I need to know about servicing an A100/C3/B3 from working on the M3.
    My 'go to' test organ!
