  • X77l

I was able to get the organ back into almost good condition, i'm still chasing some small things.
I don't have the manual and i never figured out how to work the arpeggiator . For the Leslie i'm not hearing the horn and for the space generator the big wheel next to the mercotac is not turning.
If you have some advice it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Arpeggiator - simple. Hold a chord on the lower manual and run a finger over the rollers. The Harp Sustain voice should play the arpeggio of the chord you're holding.

The X77L is a law unto itself, at least you have it with the X77! :) I'll let others chip in with ideas, but I assume you've checked back over the many existing X77 / X77L threads? Click on 'Similar Threads' at the bottom of this thread to get started on that if you haven't done so.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thanks Andy, i'll give it a try. For the X77L it looks like the Rotosonic and the horn should play at the same time when celeste is on unless something is wrong in the capacitor/crossover or the v21 is fried. What is the space generator doing and how do you activate it or is it supposed to be always on. Cheers

I can't answer your questions about how the X77 and X77L are supposed to work, but all you have to do to check your V21 is disconnect the wires connecting it and measure the resistance of the V21 leads. It should be somewhere between 10 - 13 ohms. If it's extremely high (in the thousands or infinite resistance) then you have an open voice coil on your V21 that will require servicing or replacing the V21.

IIRC, this is how the X77 and X77L work.

On Tremolo, the leslie channel highs go to the V21 and horn, with the lows going to the Rotosonic. Both running on fast, of course. When you switch to Celeste, the highs still go to the V21 and horn, but running on slow. The Rotosonic is single speed, fast only, so switching to Celeste routes the signal away from the Rotosonic and through the space generator (which creates the quasi slow leslie effect) and to stationary speakers. Bass is always handled by the separate woofer, I think.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. As I said, there are multiple threads about how the organ and cabinet work together.

              Adding to what Andy said:

The space generator is always on and is driven off the same motor that spins the rotosonic drum. If the idler wheel isn't turning either the drum motor is not running or a belt is missing. As Andy said, the rotosonic drum should run continuously.

The space generator is used to provide a richer sound on the pedals and contributes to the celeste effect when the Celeste tab on the organ is down.

Thank you guys, so it is all working now. the idler wheel needed a touch of oil and to be slightly loosened. The horn is good the switches on the organ need Deoxit. Actually the only thing still not working is the arpeggiator but i'm not too concerned with that.

The arpeggiator is working. but now that i'm going more in depth some notes are not playing (same notes frequencies on both manuals and with different drawbars) May be a stuck wheel ?
Also some crackling and soft notes that gets better after exercising the keys.
Would it be possible to transplant the tone generator and manuals from a H112 in the X77. I have a donor that works well.
                  Thanks
