I sent an email to Bill Brown at BBOrgan and he doesn't have a demo yet. Send him an email and see if he would offer a return if you don't like it.

Later this summer I will be building Kons 12AX7 overdrive ciruit found here http://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/K...cuit?version=7 has anyone here tried it?
I built this a number of years ago. It does work, however you have to turn the gain of the preamp up to compensate for the loss in the first tone stack. Personally I think the device would work better if you added a 12AU7. The first 1/2 would be used as a cathode follower for the first tone stack and the second 1/2 as a recovery stage on the output. See Bob Schleucher's FX loop.

Nice to discover there are in fact a number of alternatives here. Thanks, hammondistas!

I sent mail to George Karabelas at Audio K, and the response is that they will be producing more of the Profkon ZD-1 units, and he would get bak to me when they were done. I'll update when and if I get any more news.

Excellent idea Jim, it'll also allow me to add other things into the FX loop.

Just a small update: The word from George Karabelas at Audio K is that the Profkon ZD-1 units will cost around 300 USD, and they will be ready in a few weeks. Send him a message at [email protected] if you're interested.

That is a great price! If the faceplate is still black, and there are still wood accents, it becomes nicely integrated into the cheek block site.

I forgot to mention that, in my experience, the bottom right volume knob needs to be pretty well maxed clockwise. That way, when you turn on the unit, the gain is similar for both normal and distortion modes. Much less than that, and you almost have to floor the expression pedal.

Very happy to hear that these are still in production. Thanks for checking, Anders.
