  • A100. Reverb stops after about 20 minutes

Hi. I have a 1966 Hammond A100. After about 20-25 minutes of use the reverb starts to dwindle in strength then stops altogether. Once powered down and left for at least 30 minutes the reverb comes back. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Moggy.

I suspect it's the recovery amp (the one that's connected to the single 12" speaker), or the speaker itself. If the amp, it could be a tube, resistor, or capacitor. It would not hurt to unplug and re-plug everything a few times to "freshen" the contacts of the connectors and tubes.

Wait 20 minutes for the reverb to stop then wait 30 minutes to return.
Wait and re wait is a situation i hate because it is very difficult to understand why.

First try to clean the cinch contacts of the reverb tank.

Then hurt the tank with the handle of a scewdriver while the reverb stops to identify if the trouble is before or after.
