  • A100 Necklace Arrangement

While hunting for a rattle, I noticed the beam that has the loops which stabilize the necklaces extends down and fits loosely into a bracket on the organ floor. The bracket on the floor has a small spring attached horizontally. I found that the way the beam was inserted, the spring wasn't really doing anything, and the bracket was able to just rattle around loosely. So I unscrewed the beam and inserted it between the spring and the bracket, so that the spring is exerting a little tension, holding it against the bracket. There was an option to unhook the spring and move it to another set of holes, but I opted not to go that route. Really a small detail, but curious if I have it right now. Or, perhaps there are supposed to be two springs? I hunted around, but couldn't find a good photo of this area. (see before/after attachments below)

By the by, I'm pretty sure the reverb beam wasn't the cause of the rattle. The main suspect was a connection in the expression pedal linkage that had some free play, and rattled when I tapped around that area, so I stuck in a thin washer to eliminate the play. Also secured a few loose wires. All seems good now.

There are supposed to be two springs. The metal tab sits between the two springs, not touching any solid surface.

OK, thanks for the info. I will hunt down a replacement. What is the significance of that arrangement? The necklaces themselves don't touch any part of the mast or retention loops when hanging free. Will it hurt anything if I leave it like I have it until I find a replacement spring? It seems better than just letting it rattle loosely, which might allow it to vibrate.
