  • SK1 with Speakeasy VTP

    Hello forum,

Anyone here using the Speakeasy Vintage Tube Preamp with a Hammond SK1? I stumbled across a VTP pedal on CL yesterday for a hundred bucks and couldn't pass it up! Been looking for one of these for years. :->

Anyhow, the SK1 seems to be really hot coming into the VTP. Searching the internet, it appears that some models were installed with an optional input pad for this reason. Since this option was called the "XK pad", I gather that this is common to Hammond clonewheels. Anyone have a VTP with this option? Can you tell me what kind of pad was used? I'm guessing that any -20db pad installed before the volume pot would be fine since this is a line level input.

    thanks.
