  • Bass Foldback On Clonewheels

    Hi Guys!

My 80s Korg Cx-3 is starting to act sketchy and I'm looking at investing in a sweet new modern clonewheel. However one thing I've released is that it seems they almost all have bass foldback. I personally love the fact that my old korg has 16' ALL THE DOWN! You can really shake the floor through a good amp. Am I alone on this?? I believe I remember reading that Neal Evans modded his A100 to remove the bass foldback.

So I was wondering if you guys could clear up which clonewheels have the ability to remove bass foldback. As far as my research can tell only the Crumar Mojo has this feature. Any others?

    Thanks so much!
    Erik

My old XK3 had the choice of either. I’d service the CX3 and keep it as well though. They’re lovely instruments in their own right. I loved both of mine.

If you want to go virtual, VB3ii can do what you want.

The Viscount Legend lets you turn off bass foldback if you want to, by selecting the "30s" tonewheel model.

Also, there's a "pedal to lower" coupler that lets you double up the lowest 2 octaves of the lower manual with the pedal tones.

Guido just updated VB3 II to v 1.1.1 - he improved the cross talk - it's really sounding great. He has a toggle that applies the pedal tones to the first 22 notes of the lower manual.
