  • M-100 Oil Caps.....HELP a Newbie!!

I am a guitar player/frustrated organist. I bought my first hammond/w leslie a few weeks back (M100). Anyhow..., i wanted to check the oil but the plastic caps were EXTREMELY tight and didnt want to budge so i stopped before causing catastrophe.

Do the caps screw off or are they just a super tight pull off cap?

Awsome forum with lots of knowledgeable board members. Happy to be here and ready to learn MUCH about these wonderful hammond organs. A sincere hello to all!!!

They pull off. I use a flat head screwdriver to pry them off.

NOTE: Do not try to keep those full, these are just actually funnels so they will drain quickly.
Fill them to the top once. That will give the TG enough oil for a year or so.
If I am not mistaken the M has 3 funnels. As you face the organ from the back, fill the 2 funnels on the right to the top, and the one on the left only about 1/4 full. The one on the left is for the scanner and motor, and is often over-oiled.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.
      In reality, there is.

If you cannot get them off just remove the curved masonite TG cover. 7 screws in front and 4 at the back you just have to loosen...Easy peasy

Thanks so much BOB!! I had known through net research on how to oil but you are the FIRST that mentioned anything about the left funnel and filling it 1/4 full. I asked about these caps a dozen times or so on different forums and even e-mailed an organ company specializing in hammond's and never got one reply from any of them!! Your a scholar and a gentleman Bob. Much thanks.
