  • Hammond M3 RCA Line Out Mod

I'm trying to do the mod outlined here to a Hammond M3 http://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/G...omThePhonoJack

I've snipped the cap from the hot end of the RCA and taped it off. I didn't have a cap on hand, and decided to try the mod without it - seemed to work for some people in the article above. I added a wire from the terminal where the yellow wire is connected (the pedal output?) and soldered it to the hot part of the RCA jack.

It passes audio, but when testing it through an amp it started feeding back when the amp was turned up. It didn't feedback at low volumes. Is this because there is no cap there? Am i supposed to disconnect something else in this scenario? I'm having a hard time understanding why this loop is being created. I'm plugged directly into the input of a Genz Bentz Shuttle bass amp. Very clean and in perfect working condition. Hoping to understand what's going on before trying it through a Leslie combo preamp.

    Thanks!

Might it be safe to say the internal Hammond speaker is acting a microphone with the circuit reversed? Played it through the Leslie today, with the cab a little ways away, and it doesn't feed until it's incredibly loud.
