  • Clonewheel overdrive

    Hello all.

A newbie to this forum but very ancient although I can stand unsupported for periods exceeding a minute.

On stage, I use a Roland RD700SX, a Roland XP-80 and a Hammond XK-1 through a Mk1 Ventilator. Are there any opinions regarding an overdrive pedal for the Hammond that are better than the one in the Ventilator?

Just to say, at home I have a A102 and a Leslie 806 but hauling those around is ..... difficult!

    Cheers y'all

Hi Allen, welcome to the bunch. I have not tried or even seen them all, but for Hammond sound, I think the consensus is that the Vent is as good as it gets.

Somebody might take the time to read your question properly . . .

Just for starters, something like these might prove useful. Do you have a decent music shop nearby? OR does somebody have a similar product in use already?

Most/all guitar pedals are meant to work at instrument level, at their input. A line-level output Hammond XK-1 is going to have about 10 times that. Doddy, we emailed a while back. I've still got the amps from a 212s, if you need them.

You are using the best option available with the Vent. The XK1's overdrive is horrible.

Yeah once you dial it in the Vent is the best. I’ve had clones and tones through mine and it sounds great.
