  • Hammond Organ Dealer Sign

My wife bought me this for Christmas. At 8 o’clock this morning I was testing it and connecting power to it! It’s safe to say she has accepted my hobby ;-) For once I have a Hammond related item that doesn’t need a step down transformer LOL

Inside there is a fluorescent tube and a 240V ballast so it is UK spec.

I’d like to determine the era it is from, I’m thinking Sixties before the H logo was introduced. Any ideas?

In the meantime I am going to hang it from the ceiling in my studio.

    Happy Christmas

That is an amazing gift! I would love to find something like that. Congratulations! (And yes, I'm with you--I'd guess the 1960s.)

A very nice gift. Lucky you. The only gift my wife ever gave me that was related to my musical interests was a set of headphones.
Over the years: Hammond M3, BC, M102, B3, four X77s and three PR-40s, a Thomas Electra and a Celebrity, three Fender Rhodes, Roland HS-10, HP-2000, HP-600, RD-600, JV-880, a thing made by Korg (?), two Leslie 910s, 122, 257, 258, 247, two 142s, and three custom-built Leslies. Wow, way too much money spent!

She loves you too. Trying to protect your ears against loud playing?

She loves you, too. She obviously wants to listen to CD's or Smartphone MP3's of your playing. You should do this for a New Year's Eve gift.

My wife gave me something almost as nice as a Hammond sign. She had an electronics technician come in just before the holidays to install this (I was not allowed to go into the room until Christmas morning.)

My dad used to play his Hammond past midnight when I was a kid. I seem to recall that his Leslie was on fast all the time, like a good German. My mother would try to talk with my father over the music he was playing. I think, given her sense of humour, that she would have quite enjoyed this same modification to his organ...
