Install Trek II EIS122 Relay and three speed half moon switch...

I am not a Hammond repairman nor an electrical repairman but I certainly can follow directions and do some soldering... I have purchased a Trek II EIS122 Relay and three speed half moon switch in order to finally make my A100 have a stop, chorale & tremolo. Currently I have a decora light switch (same as when purchased) switching from chorale to tremolo or slow to fast (no stop) as pictured. Upon removing the 122 amp, there doesn't seem to be room for the relay and if so, this is probably beyond my expertise. In addition, I would consider any recommendations for a local repairman or I could perhaps ship to someone who can do the work, bench test and return. Any advise is appreciated & thank you so much fro Jacksonville, FL.

It looks like your amp currently has some sort of add-on relay already installed where the EIS122 would go. Typically with these kits you end up removing the factory installed relay and placing the new control kit in its place.

I've fitted about seven of these relays and am sure they come with instructions from Michael. I tried the three position setup on the first Leslie but didn't like the feel of the clunky three position half moon and went back to fast and slow. You have to wire a zener diode across the switch for the stop function so that it sends a different voltage to tell the relay to stop the motors

At the point when this Leslie amp was made, the PC-board mounted relay was factory standard. They were no longer using the more expensive open-frame relays.

Makes sense, the newest Leslie amp I've seen up close and personal is a model 45!

Either way, that relay will get removed to install the EIS122.

I've spoken to a couple friends who are authorized Hammond guys and I'm now eager too try myself:) BUT I just opened the three way switch package from tone wheel hospital and no cord or diode... Calling them and perhaps Michael at Trek on Monday. I'll let everyone how it goes & thank you all so much!

I'm sure from memory that the diode comes with the relay package

Yes Dave, I've found it, THANK YOU! When I'm ready I'll need some advice on installing the three way switch and the diode. Can't find installation instructions anywhere. I assume I'll pick up a three strand type lamp cord at Home Depot?

Be very careful soldering the 6.3V supply to the heater pins of the 6550 tube. One mistake and you send B+ voltage to the relay, and fry it. Don't ask me how I know this.

I have one of these wired up with the stop function. Unable to find the drawing, but if you need instructions let me know and I'll check the hookup. The relay responds to 0, 12 & 25 VDC. don't remember which function goes with what.

12vdc is the stop command, 0vdc tremolo and 25vdc chorale. The diode is halving the usual chorale voltage.

You guys do this in your sleep and sorry but I do not:) The relay install is complete. I've attached photos of the switch and installation instructions. I have questions as to the installation of the three way switch.

• What wire do I purchase?
• What terminals get soldered to which wires?
• What terminals are used for the diode?

Wire - 18g lamp cord is over kill. A 20g twisted pair would be better.
It appears you have the switch in the first example (6 terminals). WIre up as indicated. Normally with a tremolo/chorale setup polarity isn't an issue but with the zener diode it is. One wire from the Leslie kit is ground. The other carries a voltage. If you can't determine which is which (meter or open the kit to check), you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. If it don't work - swap the wires.
