  • Removing tubes to test

Can I remove and install tubes while the organ (Hammond B3, AO-28) is on and running (plugged into Leslie 122) to test the tubes, including rectifier tube, e.g. removing current one and replacing with new one to see difference? Or do I have to turn off organ and re-start each time? I would only be doing one tube at a time.

I just don't want to damage anything.

    Thanks in advance

I pull them all the time while powered up. However, I wouldn't do that with the rectifier. They are old and known to fail. I've had them fail doing that. Plus, not likely any sound difference with the rectifier. In fact, not likely any sound difference with any tubes in a B-3 unless an old one has a REAL problem.

My test is, if it's working, the tubes are alright. I do check for micrphonics which is easier in the organ.
