RCA plug in on Hammond - under whelmed?

I have a Yamaha keyboard that I have on a couple of occasions plugged into the RCA input on an AO 28 peddle volume control box. On both occasions I have felt that the volume , clarity , depth etc is under whelming Is there something Im doing or have others felt the same way?...What did you do to brighten up this RCA channel ? I would like to make this a permanent plug in for the keyboard . As always your help is appreciated

It may be your speaker. Leslie? Tone Cabinet? Since the Hammond has a limited high frequency range those speakers don't usually reproduce them.

What kind of sound are you playing? If it's a Hammond sound, make sure there is NO amp sim.

Usually play rhythm section with a style selection and perhaps accomp. with the Hammond doing the base and the melody

IME, for reasons unknown, some things sound good, some lack a little umph. All are clean and have plenty of gain, even an electric guitar with no preamp. We put a pot on the input so we can back the level down, instead of having to do it on the external instrument.

That sounds to me like your dialing down the output on in my case the organ to fit the input from the Yamaha, rather than building the input on the Yamaha to match the organ. IS that what your sayin? and how would I go about doing that.
