  • Leaking tone on both upper and lower manuals on Hammond A101

I have an Hammond A101 / leslie 122. When I play any note in any registration including drawbars, there is a leaking F#3 tone in background. It is not on pedals . Any ideas for cause, or possible fixes are appreciated.

I would remove the wire of that note on the tone generator and flash it (apply a 9 volt battery) by applying the 9 volts between the wire and chassis ground. If I'm understanding you correctly the F#3 is the F# on the 3rd octave, that being said it would be the 41st terminal starting from the run motor on the terminal strip of the harness leading to the keyboard. After removing that wire you can run the organ and verify. If so turn off the organ and apply the 9 volts across the wire and chassis ground for an instant (a second) and replace the wire and hopefully your in business.
Good Luck I hope that does the trick

How about for an M3. I want to flash the upper manual but don't know where to connect it

If you are talking about the F#3 frequency of 184.997 Hz, this would be tonewheel 31. In an M3 this is the tonewheel on the left, in the 12th section from the synchronous motor end (or just the 25th tonewheel from that end, including the blank), in the row of tonewheels next to the front of the organ. In other words, the row that is farther away from you and more of a pain to get to when looking inside the organ. I don't know what you're connecting wires to because I haven't used this flashing method before, but it's that tonewheel. Hope this helped some, good luck!
