  • How "rare" is the A122 model organ?

Picking one of these up tomorrow. Thoroughly gone thru by an enthusiast and also a reputable tech.
curious how many units they made considering it was a 2 year only product. Doesn't matter really, cause I think it's a beauty.

There are a few around. One was just down the street from me at a jazz club until it closed.Nice design,A101 shape with a darker finish.
RARE? Not really. Model BA player is rare. Almost as rare? People who play them!
Mostly guitarists and drummers seem to have them now, many working Hammond organs see little to no use.

The A122 down the block certainly got played.Joey DeFrancesco made sure of that!
Dr Lonnie Smith and Mike Ledone also gave it a workout....they all seemed to like that organ!

Knew the club owner,he had me fix a few things over the years.Had Bob S in Oakland CA rebuild the 22H amp!
One of the nicest jazz rigs I've ever heard in person.

Nice model if it has legs.....A143? not so much IMO.This A102 is a real pooch,I call it Fido the poodle.
    In it's defense it's a great playing/sounding console though.

The A101/A122 is sure nicer to look at than an A143/A102 IMO.
My favorite though is still the mahogany A100 of which at least 50% of them are.
Simple classic design,my all time favorite for sure.

Always wondered what a factory back for A122/A101 would look like.Never seen one, maybe they don't exist?

Let us know how the A122 works out for you! Best of luck.

Thanks for the response. I got it home and setup. Got a couple issues , got 1 drawbar out on upper manual, but I'll deal with it. Theres a local tech. Great fun finding and playing the different voicing. Sort of reminds me of different guitar sounds inspiring specific songs etc. I think it will inspire my wife's songwriting and the band will enjoy rehearsals even more.
