  • AO29 - bypassing the power amp

    Hello everyone,
    I'd like to have the experts' opinion on this procedure. ie: would this be safe for the transformer and other components? I have found the following in the old Hammond mailing list:

    - around V5: remove V5 and V6, remove C27, R45A/R45B
    - around V11: replace R93 with a value between 800~1200 ohm (20 Watt), so that the high voltage measured at C65 becomes 310 Volt
    - around V2: rewire pin 2 according to B3 schematics; rewire C6/C8 according to B3 schematics; replace R20, C6, C8, R21+R22, R18, R26, R27, C10 according to B3;
    - around V1: rewire pin2 according to B3 schematics; add new R (R18 in B3 schematics); replace R6, C1, R7, R8, R4 according to B3; replace the C to the vibrato delay line (C9? I cannot read the number, it is C13 in the B3);
    - around V4A: replace R28, R29 (shortcut); replace C13 according to B3;
    - around V4B: remove C20 and replace R37 and C21; rewire C25A to right side of C21;
    - around V3B: replace tube by a 12BH7; remove C22, R41/R42, shortcut R40; rewire pin 6 to output trafo (=pin 3 of removed V6);
    - around V9: add 3 R's and 1 C as in B3; rebuild everything from R63 ("P") up to C35 ("D") as in B3;

    Any thoughts?
    thanks,
    Martin

        Basically, to make it closer to an AO28.
