Is the tone generator in the rt2 the same as the one in the e112 or a100 and others?

I just finished re capping the tone generator on the rt2 and how do i measure the output of each tone ?
I used a digital multimeter set at ac but i hardly get any readings . What is going on ?

The normal voltages from the TG are pretty low, like six to ten milivolts (.006 volts) Handheld multimeters are not all alike and some do a poor job with signals this low and with frequencies that a TG produces. What meter do you have?

hi ! i have a canadian tire brand multimeter made in china , it supposed to be auto ranging with ac and dc , when i set it on ac voltage i attach one lead to ground and the positive lead at each end of the coils on the tone generator , on some i get a reading of .002 volts and some no reading .
this is after i have replaced all of the caps , i should be getting readings in the .006 range volt readings , should i not !

Not the same as the E-100 series.

Possibly the same as in your A-100, depending on the year of the RT-2. On the -2 series, the tone generator output terminals may or may not be in chromatic order depending on when it was made. If yours does not have them in chromatic order - then the A-100 generator will fit.

the reason i ask is that i was planning on taking the tone generator from an e112 and install it in the rt2 , reason is the the e112 has mylar caps that do not drift and the rt2 has old out of spec wax caps . the idea was to avoid re calibrating the tone generator if i replace the wax caps

A problem with the e100 unit will be that it does not have the lowest octave of wheels, tones 1-12. In the e100 these tones are provided by a divider in the pedal circutry. I've redone four tgs and three of the four sounded fine and didn't require adjustment, at least for my ears 8) I would bet lunch that your meter is just not sensitive and accurate enough to give you useful readings. How does the organ actually sound? I would expect a dramatic improvement (unless like on my BC some 'tech' had done "bad things" to the preamp)
