  • T 524 question...

When I turn the Leslie ON/OFF switch to the OFF position a 'hum' begins in the 12 inch main speakers. Any thoughts on a cause ?

Also, switching the Leslie OFF increases the volume of the music...is that normal?

Is this on the internal leslie or an external one?

Unfortunately I have only the internal "Leslie".

On my rig I always worked these things out by trial and error rather than any kind of electronic knowledge....
... but considering that when the leslie kicks in one of the main speakers usually stays on to provide low frequencies, could it be the speaker in the leslie isn't producing any sound and the increased volume is from the second main speaker coming back on?
If you unplug the leslie does the hum stop? It's possible the hum is produced by the motors and they need an adjustment. Perhaps they're too tight?

The internal Leslie never stops spinning, regardless of whether a signal is routed to its speaker or not.
          Current:
1971 T-202 with Carsten Meyer mods: Remove key click filters, single-trigger percussion, UM 16' drawbar volume correction. Lower Manual bass foldback.
Korg CX3 (original 1980's analogue model).
1967 Leslie 122 with custom inbuilt preamp on back panel for 1/4" line-level inputs, bass & treble controls. Horn diffusers intact.
2009 Marshall 2061x HW Plexi head into Marshall 4x12 cabinet.

          Former:
          1964 C3
          196x M-102
          197x X5
          197x Leslie 825
