• Getting the Top of an E 100.

Is it possible for just 1 inexperienced person to remove the top of the organ? I have a cracked 'drawbar casing'. Seems to be made of plastic of some sort. When I push in the drawbars, more than one moves because the back is loose. Anu sugestions would be more than welcome.

The drawbars are also squeeky. If I lift it up ever so slightly while I move it in or out, it is dead quiet. There is not a problem when the organ is playing, the sound is friction somewhere even when it is turned off. I tried taking an artist's paintbrush and painted some vaseline both sides of the metal drawbar inside the organ.

    Please guide me...

    Brian,

Have you taken the back off yet? You have to take off the back in order to take off the top. Once you take the back off you will find little wood blocks on either side of the organ where the lid screws on. The front part of the lid just has some pegs that drop down into clips in the case so once you get the back part of the lid unscrewed you should be able to lift the top straight up. You might have to tug on the front part a bit to pull it out.

      Hi Steve,

Thank you for the advice. I have taken the back of. The back is held in place by 3 large 'thumb screws'. I will double check tomorrow. I really need the top to come off, because the upper manual's set of drawbars 'plastic' casing has cracked open on the corner, and I need to glue it with super glue, because when I push one of the bars back to '0', all the bars next to it (about 6 bars) also want to move backwards, as the back of this box goes all skew and then pulls the other bars back. I will let you know. Some of both the manual's bars are quite squeeky when I push or pull them, so I want to try to put vaseline on them too at the same time.

      Thank you for the advice.

If I remember right, there are two screws along the 1 x 2" at the back that go up into the top. Also, there is a black wire, probably for grounding, that you need to detach. Simple as that. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. Today I fixed the op-most 'c' note on the pedalboard. The pringy plate was broken off. I removed the riviets that held it in place, drilled 2 new holes in the remaining piece, and re-riveted it. I had some trouble with the pedals after that, but it's sorted out now, thank goodness. Not the remaining problems are 1 getting the top off tomorrow morning to fix the upper manual drawbar cover, and 2 checking if it's a wire of the 8' upper drawbar that is causing it not to work at all.

          Regards,
