• How do I get some grind in my M3?

I have the output of my M3 going into a 75 watt BGW amp and the output of that amp going to my Leslie. Too clean.... Need some dirt. Any ideas of something I can adjust in my M3 to get some grind?

    Steve,

Try adjusting the preamp output level. Here is a link to instructions.

Some Hammonds respond better than others to this adjustment. Nice hot preamp tubes help also.

    Best of luck,

Do you mean overdrive? With your set up you should be getting plenty of overdrive or what ever modulation you want. Try shoving it through a ring mondulator, even the Behringer multi Efx rack I ran my L102 thorough behaved nicely on almost any parameter I put it on.

It sounds like you are missing the foldback of the higher end keys. Check out captainfoldback for more info on installing fold back on it.

Here is some examples of an L102 running through a Beringer Ultramizer.

Also when you say Lesie does it have a horn? It's the top horn that gives it that screaming whining sound.

          Thanks H101,

Last night I checked in and hadn't seen any replies, so I called a guy from Trek. He told me about the screw, but he said be careful, if you turn it up too much it can cause distortion!. I just said "ya think"?

It worked out great. Now I have this Steppinwolf growl happinin' w/o taking a power tube out. I do realize I can put any kind of stomp box or effect box in line, and I did. I put my Line 6 Pod to it and it did overdrive, but if you don't have to, I don't want to. Just another thing to have to hook up and depend on. I almost have the ultimate setup. The Leslie is a 120 but I modified it to have the 2 speed upper horn assembly added. It's only 29" high and 18X25 width and depth.Best part?It weighs a woppin' 60pounds.

          It just screams.

          Thanks guys!

That's great Steve. I'm glad it made it scream for you. I really like having the growl on demand with the expression pedal without boxes in line as well.

Would you mind emailing me a few pics of your Leslie? I'd like to see what was done and build a little road leslie of my own. I can see a JBL E120 in the bottom and an Atlas PD65 on top pushed by a QSC amp all built in!

            Dreaming out loud,
