• [trouble] The Hammond 5200 Maverick

Hi, first I think it'll be better to introduce myself. I'm hadoq (as a screenname) 29 years old, musician (like everyone here probably), playing mostly soul and jazz music. Now I got my hands on a hammond 5200 maverick, some claim it sounds horrible, allright it doesn't sound like a B3 for sure, but I actually love it's sound because it's just "something else", that reminds me old analogue synth -I love the "piano" sound on this thing. anyway, I'm pretty happy with that organ that perfectly fits my music.

the problem is the following: I'm in big need of money so I'm checking out what I can sell for a pretty decent amount of money. That's actually what brought me here; I have absolutely no idea how much this organ worth, I got it from some garage sale for almost nothing and if you tell me it doesn't worth anything then I'll just keep it cause I really like it.

I'm really sorry cause I created this account, basically to ask this question, I'm not specially an organ enthusiast, but I thought I could use one (and I was right), I hope you guys won't mind me just asking this question.

    thank you !

    Hi

Don't worry about only being here to ask one question, you're just as welcome as the regulars.

OK - value. To be honest, you 'paid' the right price - almost zero. Most of them are either given away or dumped, so I'd hang on to it if you like it. It has the usual OK Hammond LSI organ sound, not a B3 like you say, but hey it isn't B3 money either!

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

thank you andy G, I'm almost glad it doesn't worth anything, so I can keep it, and I honnestly LOVE it's sound because it's really warm and nice for modern soul music, it sometimes sounds better than my analogue synth (sequencial pro one).

actually I might stick around a little, or at least come and visit, cause I will need advices on recording and all.

thank you for your quick reply !
