With a combo preamp just about any electronic keyboard that produces Hammond sounds would be as Andy says "quite convincing" and better than an S1. To me the S1 sounds more like an accordian than an organ.Electric piano sounds great through a tube Leslie also. Early Hammond clonewheels sell for well under $1K used and sound decent even whithout a Leslie.</P>

And for those that don't know, the S1 doesn't sound anything like a Hammond tonewheel organ! [;)] Even through a 145 leslie it just won't sound 'right'. Interesting, maybe, but not the sound you might think you'll get.</P>


If you want a lighter option than an M3, I'd get a second-hand clonewheel keyboard, a combo pre-amp and route it through the 145. Even a mediocre clone will sound quite convincing through a tube leslie.</P>

Hey all, how goes it? I thought this would be a neat project to do for my band so we could actually have a hammond sound without the pain of lifting such a beast up and down stairs every show..any thoughts?</P>
