There is nothing like firing up the Hammond. I consider myA- 100 & b3 my two best friends. After they heat up for a couple of hours that sweat smell of Hammond oil is nirvana. Long live the Beast. I also saw Santana way back in the day when they were actually still called the Santana blues band. Rollie was way cool but the guy who turned me into a Hammond addict was Lee Michaels out here on the west coast. Dude was flat out ridiculous. Of course that led to Jimmy Smith and so on and so on. Enjoy.

I'm in Hammond / Leslie heaven

Finally, last Saturday, the Hammond Tech came home to hook up my M111 to the Leslie 147 via an original Leslie 26-1 kit with the 2 half moon switches.

During this week, followed instructions from the experts here and Hammondzone (putting back the original Leslie branded 6550's instead of the KT-88's he sold me), move the horn belt to the fastest position, loose a little bit the drum belt to get the out of sync effect with the horn when ramping down, boost a little bit the organ's gain, move the pot to cutoff percussion (was too glassy/bright) and FINALLY I'm getting that sweet, mellow, screaming, "musically" distorted -famous frying eggs- tone I lusted for almost 38 years.(It all started when I saw Santana in Woodstock...Greg Rollie...It's YOUR FAULT!!!)

I had clones (last one a Korg CX-3 Version 2 with a tube-Speakeasy-preamp)but NOTHING compares to this sound.

I know a Spinet is not an A100, C3 or B3, I can hear the difference in tone but let me tell you that now, I'm very happy with what I have.

Cheers to all that answered my questions and thanks to my supportive wife that even got me a 196? original Lava Lamp and 196? sample of fabrics to cover the pillow on the bench, not to mention a coaster made out of a 45 RPM record from Jimmy Smith for Verve Records)

PS: man, this Leslie is powerful...

Working...
