    Hi,

I have a question: my M3 has too much key click. Especially after i modded the organ with a full foldback kit. I cleaned the busbars when i did the mod. Thus I wonder if it would make sense to clean the key contacts now. I really think the key contacts from the foldback kit could be dirty, because the disturbing click is mostly on the higher notes where most new contacts have been added. What do you think? And what would be the best method to clean the contacts? If i disassemble the manual, of course i will again clean (and maybe lube) the busbars...

    Greetings Christian

Has your amplifier been rebuilt? I ask because many times, a perceived "shrillness/clickiness" can actually be the symptoms of "too little bass and mids"; not "too much highs".

I don't think its the amp, because the tone from the lower manual, where i did not mod anything, sounds nice.

But....is it promising to clean the contacts with something like DeOxit?

I removed the upper manual chassis from the organ and removed the busbars. If I look at the surface of the palladium wire, i can see (and feel) that the key contacts have made notches into it. I can not precisely see how deep these notches are. But if the wire would be cut completely, would I have to replace such a busbar?

Otherwise, my plan would be to clean the busbars with nevr'dull and spray some deoxit on the key contacts and see if it helps.

If i only could hear the result without reassembling everything )-:

The palladium wire is welded on to the contact leaf, not the busbar rod. Whether you can smooth the notches out is something that others will have to advise. I was always taught to clean the bussbars carefully with a solvent, and lightly lube them, Tonewheel general Hospital has the lube, but I don't know if it is worthwhile to ship to Germany. Andy Gilbert in the UK may have better advice for a source.

There are palladium wires in both places, Handy!

I cleaned the busbars using nevr-dull....and also replaced 4 busbars. But it had only little effect on the click. A bit better...ok. But maybe the click has another reason!? Without using percussion, i would say it sounds ok....but when i switch on percussion, that click which comes with the percussion tone is really disturbing....especially on the highest octave. Can anyone tell me what other sources of click noise would be possible?
