  • L-100 Swell Pedal Hum

I've noticed lately a hum from my L-100 whenever the swell pedal isn't fully up. As soon as the pedal leaves its maximum position, the hum starts, and then decreases as the pedal goes down to its minimum position. Not sure if this is a new thing or not. I replaced all the e-caps a couple months ago and that cleaned up the organ's overall noise considerably. So I can't tell if this issue is new or is only noticeable now that the rest of the noise has been taken care of.

Full disclosure: the L is chopped, so the speakers are gone and it runs exclusively thru a 1/4" line out. I've retained the original swell pedal and it is connected in its original configuration, only the RCA cables have been extended to allow the pedal to be unplugged from the organ for transporting. Also, the pedal is the early version with a potentiometer, not a LDR.

I would start by rechecking my ground connections and inspecting the solder joints of the new electrolytic capacitors.
