  • Help in identifying Hammond organ model

    Hi here !

I bought yesterday an organ for a few bucks. Never had one and I am discovering a whole new world.
The thing is, this organ needs some clean up, and probably some new capacitors as some sounds aren't produced at all or just don't come out weird (too low or scratchy etc).

I need your help to identify my organ as I couldn't do it by myself. I did find similar on internet but nevers indicating the exact model. Please see :
    https://marketplace.apartmenttherapy...4-e47e61acceb6
    or
    https://www.friday-ad.co.uk/crowboro...rgan-17522649/

On mine the wooden cabinet is slightly different from those but its a match on keys and buttons.

I can take pictures of specific parts if need, just tell me where or what ! Also if I need to open it to get some more pieces of infos, I'd be happy to do it with your guidance.

Happy Christmas for those who celebrate it, and happy to join the Hammond owners community ;)

Somewhere in the back of the organ there should be a data plate affixed to the organ, which should give you some info. such as model, serial#, etc. That should get you started. May be a back panel that needs removed first?? I'm not familiar with that model, but I guarantee you someone does know on this board! Merry Christmas!

Hi lemsto, funny. Someone asked the same question just a few weeks ago.

This is a Hammond Dolphin 9924 from around 1978 with a polyphonic synthesizer. It is not a tonewheel Hammond organ, so worth is more or less zero. I hope you didn‘t pay a lot.

        Thank you !!!

Nah didn't pay much, and I got it mostly to let my kids (3yo and 20month) play with it. But I still expected a little bit more than "worth zero" !! haha
I had to search what a tonewheel is, didn't know it existed :) Now that I've heard the difference, I got the point !

auronoxe do you know if I have any chance to find the service manual for it (and for free !!) ? Doesn't seem to be a well-known / well sold model :/

During the animal period (Maverick, Dolphin, etc) Hammond put paper tags stapled to the underside of the lower keyboard instead of on the back at the floor. Enjoy it as it is, or be satisfied with just cleaning and reseating the internal connecting plugs. These were not made during Hammond's finest days. Model may numbers like 5100, 7100. 9700.
