  • Hammond M103 - Disconnected pedals?

    Hey all!

I just got my first Hammond organ from a seller on Kijiji. It's in pretty great shape overall. As far as I can tell, everything (notes, drawbars, vibrato, verb) works - EXCEPT the pedals. I opened it up to oil and took a look inside..nothing looks broken or out of place. I can't see any torn or fraying wires. Did the previous owner disconnect the pedal volume somehow? Any ideas what may be going on here?

    Thanks!!

    Check this:
From the back of the organ, in the right rear corner of the tone generator is a "ground lug" secured by a screw (pointed to by pencil) I had a M100 and if I remember correctly its pedals didn't work. Corrosion under that solder lug where it's screwed to the tone generator caused a bad connection which killed the pedals. Slightly loosen the screw, wiggle the lug gently back and forth and re-tighten the screw. This might bring the pedals back.
My picture is a model M3, but I think the M100 has the same arrangement.

      Congrats on your acquisition.
There is a tube associated with the pedals, you can find which one by looking at the schematics. You might try another tube, and/or re-tension the tube socket.(read on the safety before doing this. It's actually very simple).
Also, there is a pedal adjustment pot on the amp, I wonder if it could be set so that the pedals don't sound at all..
