    XK3 Valve Sound cutting treble

    Hi, I think this may be my first posting although I have browsed the forums many times in the past. I have a H-S XK3 and I have recently noticed that when I switch in the 'Tube Amp' the sound loses all of the treble range. I have replaced the VS2 12AX7 with a known good tube but there is no difference, I have also tried adjusting the preset pot for VS2 with the same result. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

    How do you have the preamp configured? I don't remember the routing exactly but one of the options is to have the highs go through the A side of the first tube and the B side of the other while the lows go through the B side of the first tube and the A side of the other. So either tube can be bad. IIRC, you can also have all frequencies go through just one tube.
    Just to confirm, you have an XK-3, not an XK-3c? The routing options can be different.
