I have noticed a few folks on this forum that have an interest in Chord Organs. I have a Hammond Chord Organ S6 looking for a new home. It has been in my family since it was purchased new from the local Hammond Dealer. It has a spring reverb and external speaker, the organ and bench are Blonde. It sounds good, no broken keys. I would like to see it have a new home with someone that will appreciate it. It is located just outside of Boston MA. I would appreciate advice from any Chord Organ advocates.

Fun little instrument. I just restored an S6 that belonged to my folks, and has been gathering dust (a lot of it) at my nephew's. I repaired one broken key and replaced four resistors which had all drifted WAY out of tolerance (oddly all 82K - bad batch?), and gave it a thorough cleaning, and it's working 100%, and looks almost brand new. Although I'm certain that it's never been tuned since leaving the factory, it's still dead-on after 63 years!
Does anyone know what the big iron block on top of the speakers is for? Or why the speakers are different - one straight cone and one curved? (Not a fluke, as it's mentioned in their literature.)
Oh, and I replaced the line cord with a grounded one and added a fuseholder. The original multi-section electrolytics have low ESR, so I'm leaving them alone. There don't appear to be any paper capacitors - at least no wax-covered ones. I replaced the 25V electrolytic on the 30V supply, but it was still good.Current: Roland AT-900/ATUP-EX, Rodgers 340 Century, Wersi CD700T Spectra
Past: Rodgers 321 Trio, Conn 552 Theaterette, Hammond RT3/122/HR40, Thomas/Heathkit GD-325D, Hammond S6
