  • M3 with extra ? Reverb ? Nixa Mo

I was looking through FB and saw this M3 that has a few add-ons. I'm guessing the second chassis and the rotary switch to the right of the manuals is reverb but, there seems to be some extra something attached to the cabinet behind the music stand. I'd be tempted out of curiosity if it was a little closer to KC. Any ideas ?

Maybe the speaker for the reverb?

That's what I was thinking. Would like to see a better pic. Nixa isn't far from Branson. Maybe I should go catch a show :-)

It's hard to tell from the pic, but this looks like a preset panel, of all things.
There was a panel made that came with a big spaghetti of wires. It was literally wired into the drawbars. One setting was naturally for the drawbars and the other settings were presets.
It was available for spinets. Basically a 12 position switch (or so).
I'm sure some others like Pete or David will know more about it. I've just seen them in passing.
If that's what it is, that gizmo by itself is worth the $50 just in unique fun and games. If that's what it is.

That's why I shared it . See what the experts say :-) Looks like a nice weekend for a drive.

I concur. This was a preset unit. I have seen one before. I can't recall the brand. I have photos somewhere.

The speaker behind music rack was standard with the reverb kit that Hammond sold at the time.

Now I'm wondering what all of that would sound like.

I have never personally seen an M3 preset unit.

Hammond also offered a stand-alone speaker cabinet for reverb with a 12" speaker with a whizzer cone for better high end.

Let's see here,I can hook up twelve presets to an M3? Yeah,I've played one with the right cheekblock preset panel.Full Organ and Tibia Clausa are useful.
No,they don't offer any other waveforms.....haha. I seem to recall there being six presets per manual?
The reverb dial for external 10" driven by the AO29 was installed in the left cheekblock,.This maxed out M3 was in Fraser Valley with an HR tonecab too.
The verb amounts could be dialed and the open back 10" could have a nice effect close to a wall,if you like 'deep' verb without noise.
The HR sounded best away from the wall.

Twenty years ago you could get one free everyday. Where is the Ronsonal ?....where are the Marettes and AC cable?

Yes,David I have here a whizzer cone 8" from a 125XL. It's installed into my free Peavey Rage 158.A clone/vent sounds fine through it at a blistering 15 watts!

I saw this a while back when I was researching another Electrotone piece.

I found a photo of the one I saw. It looks identical to this. My photos is of much lower quality so I won't post it.

As I recall there are tons of sliding contacts and a real whopper of a wiring harness, but it gets the job done.

I recently bought an M3 with one of these. It's an Electro Tone unit called Duet Sixteen. It's nice to have, also looks pretty cool and retro IMO.

                Hi all.
I recently scored one of these pre set units for one of my M3's. Does anyone have the paperwork/hook up directions/wiring diagrams for it?
Also, I have a reverb amp in this M3 as well. What is the general consensus on routing the reverb output to a Leslie? Presently I have it going to a nice home made old speaker cabinet with a big good sounding 12" in it but I was wondering about putting it through the Leslie.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
                Thanks Sparky
