  • A100 - missing 'that sound'

Please see my other post for details of my A100. I come from a prior M3, both run through a Motion Sound Pro 3 and Low, thus I have a 2 rotor setup.

However, I still just can't get the wet sound of a full-stop-out Hammond. It's not that different from the M3 in that regard, both using a Trek line out installed by Michael's instruction. I'm not sure how else to describe the sound, but it seems "thin". I'd say my clicks are mild to moderate and little leakage.

So, of course, now I'm very curious about how much difference a 122 or 145 Leslie would make.

An M-3 to an A-100 is a night and day difference. An A-100 is electrically identical to a B-3 except for the additional on board sound system. There's alot to be said about the hammond pre amp to leslie power amp interaction. It has more to do with the sound than just the spinny bits.

Agree, M3 differences I understand. Just expected the A100 to solve it and didnt.

Has the A100 been serviced and gone through and checked over?

The Motion Sound rotary speakers are quite dissapointing to be honest... nothing like the real thing. Not saying this is your whole problem, but it's guaranteed to be a big part of it.

I have exactly the same problem. I know exactly what sound to expect from an A100 and in my case a 147 leslie. My sound is also thin and lacks that warm deep hammond sound. With the organ on mains only, it already lacks the depth of sound of a console. Thus it is tempting to rule out the leslie speaker. I am unsure whether this type of sound issue could be attributed to tubes, caps or amp, or none of the above.
