• E & B keys stopped working!!

    Hi,

Please excuse my ignorance - I know very little about organs. I bought an old one off ebay about six months ago as I loved the hammond sound and had wanted one for a while. It is clearly a rather inferior model: 123J3. It has worked fine up until a week ago when for some reason every E and B key on the organ stopped working - i.e. no sound is produced when any E or B key on the organ is pressed. All other keys are absolutely fine - how can this be and what could cause this? I am reasonably good with electronics and am prepared to get into the thing and try and sort it out but I don't know where to start and am worried I'll do more harm if I start messing around inside. Any suggestions??!! Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks. Tom

If all the Es and Bs have gone, this is a generator/divider fault and I'm sorry to say that it's possibly terminal. You might just be able to findreplacement parts if you could identify positively what's needed, but the cost of repair would probablyexceed the value of the organ, which like all small organs of this age is realistically almost zero.

There may be some other suggestions to come on this thread, but I'd be prepared to bite the bullet and look around for another organ. The 123 was the smallest of the Hammond 'Romance' series back in 1979/80, and you should be able to pick up something newer and bigger for very little money, or even get one free.

We'll happily guide you if you come up with a few 'possibles' onebay.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I think Andy is right but you might pull off the back and make sure all the connector are clean and tight. Short of that, find a M, L or T series spinet for next to nothing.
