• Hammond M-3 Power transformer for Europe

Now my little $182 Hammond has grown quickly to a $1840 Hammond and counting. [6][C]

Frequency shifter, amps, line out box, capacities, shipping cost, taxes, it adds up..

Now I need a power transformer. We have 230V here in Iceland. So I need a 115V-230V. But how much watts and ampers ?

I will be installing a line out box so I guess there won't be any Leslie yet. Should I still have it powerful enough to supply a Leslie too?

    Kalli the eskimo.

Find a dual primary 120/240 control transformer of say 500 watt size. They usually output 24 volts. Connect the primary windings as an "autoformer" or as 240 volt input. Then feed the organ off only half of the primary side. As an autfoormer, the rating of the transformer is about double. You might even get away with a 250 watt one. OFTEN these control transformers are available surplus and at salvage yards. Just tape the 24 volt winding off and not use it.

Ebay even has some... a 250 Watt one with dual primary is currently at $10... A 250 watt one would deliver 500 watts as an autoformer connection. Shipping of course culd be expensive so check local salvage yards first.
