I'm looking to improve the treble response in an A0-39 amp (found in A100's) for use in a project. I recall seeing this info on the forum, and tried searching for the posts, but can't seem to find the info. I know there are treble response improvement mods for the A0-28/29/43's posted on the forum, I just can't seem to find anything on the A0-39. I would like the AO-39 to run as wide open as possible. Thanks for any replies.
Easy mod, simply disconnect one end of C1 and C10 or R8 and R9. The resistors are in series with the capacitors, so disconnecting either one does the job. Made a very noticeable difference in my A100.
While you're in there, you might look at replacing C4 and C5, the electrolytic cathode bypass caps for the 6BQ5s. If they have or are drying up, frequency response won't be at its best, bass especially.
