  • hammond with built in leslie and leslie speaker

hello i can be thick when i comes to electronics
if i have a hammond organ example my t200 with a leslie speaker the sound i play comes out of both speakers . If i only what to hear leslie speaker sound only do i just put a headphone jack in the organ headphone socket or does the organ speakers turn off when leslie connected .

I just yesterday repaired the Leslie in a T312. The “Leslie” switch appears to select either the rotary or fixed speaker.
That might be right or wrong, but it was my first impression from the sound 8)

Looking in the manual, this is how the *internal* speakers are switched. Plugging something into the phone jack mutes all internal speakers.

If you have an external Leslie, it could be wired up various ways, anything is possible 8)

Does your leslie have the proper 'half moon' switches controlling it? If not, then it's what I call a 'bodge job' and all bets are off. You really need it connected by a proper leslie kit. Not rocket science to make if you don't have one. But you'll have to rewire it all! What external leslie do you have, if you have one?

If you have the half moons, one will be marked Main Ensemble Echo. Main = organ only. Ensemble = organ and leslie. Echo = leslie only.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

T-Series internal Leslie is not full-range.
Even with the Leslie rocker switch engaged on the lower left cheek block, some of the lower frequencies are still routed to the stationary woofer.
I suppose it might be possible to bypass the routing of the bass frequencies to the woofer, but the Leslie will sound weak and thin by comparison.

Note: If your T-200 plays full volume through the Leslie and the main speakers regardless of the position of the Leslie rocker switch, then something is wrong
        Current:
1971 T-202 with Carsten Meyer mods: Remove key click filters, single-trigger percussion, UM 16' drawbar volume correction. Lower Manual bass foldback.
Korg CX3 (original 1980's analogue model).
1967 Leslie 122 with custom inbuilt preamp on back panel for 1/4" line-level inputs, bass & treble controls. Horn diffusers intact.
2009 Marshall 2061x HW Plexi head into Marshall 4x12 cabinet.

        Former:
        1964 C3
        196x M-102
        197x X5
        197x Leslie 825

Papus is correct! Closer inspection of the schematic reveals a crossover of sorts is engaged when the Leslie switch is on, routing upper frequencies to the rotary and lower to the stationary speakers. With the switch off, the crossover is bypassed allowing all frequencies to go only to the stationary speakers.

You could experiment with bypassing the crossover, and install a full-range or dual-concentric driver into the Leslie.
You'd want to make sure any central tweeter protrusions don't get fouled on the Leslie mechanism
