  • Model E main generator motor does not start any more

    Hi all.

After having worked fine for years today I cant make it start. The secondary generator motor works fine.
By hand the movent is smooth and it is not stuck or hard at all.
I am doing the procedure as I always did. I even let the start motor run a lot more than usual and same thing.
Run and start switches are new. Cables ok.
Do you have any advice related to common issues? I dont want to take things apart that I wont be able to reassemble correctly if the solution is coming in another way.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot.

    Update.
One of the windings is open. I cant believe it. Is this common?

Here we have no spares. Buying from abroad is complicated and expensive. Taking out the generator is out of my skills and patience anyway
I put a lot of effort during a lot of time to rewire the organ with old wires to make it look old, I added a original reverb chassis inside of the organ which had none, I rebuilt the power amp in the tone cabinet, the 6 tubes nos, I built a small tremolo speaker with rotary yamaha unit... For nothing.
    I am annoyed and sad.
From now on a new decorative object.

A pic of the reverb chassis added in an empty space of the organ with a selector intensity switch:

Where are you located? What is your line voltage and frequency? Changing the run motor should be possible without removing the generator. In the US, at least, motors are easy to find.

          Hi.
I am in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The motor is 220V 50Hz. As you can see Im not only abroad but I need a part which maybe not that common even in the US?...

Replacing the coils in the motor with new, freshly wound ones isn't that difficult.

You should talk to Joe Luca also. He is a poster on this forum and knows the Model E very well.

If you are referring to the Concert E, I have plenty of those parts.
I rebuild Hammonds and Leslies. Please visit my website. tbstonewheels.com It's still in the works but is up and running. My personal setup is a Model A # 2203 with Trek II percussion, 122RV and 2 31h's. One is fitted with two speed motors and the other a Hamptone. Also sporting a working Vibratone 30A # 326.
