  • M100 No Vibrato

Heard a nice loud POP while playing my M100 a few weeks ago. Vibrato channel stopped working on both manuals. Everything else fine. Swapped the 6AU6 tubes, and the problem reversed itself - vibrato works, non-vibrato doesn't work. Seems like V2 crapped out, right? Tried a 6AU6A - same thing. Maybe that replacement is bad too? 6AU6A not a close enough replacement? What are the odds. Checked the resistors around V1 and V2 and nothing looks like it's blown.

You can use the pedal tube 6BA6 as a 6AU6 sub.

That didn't do the trick either.

If you swapped the tubes and the problem moved with the tubes that usually indicates the tube. Having tried a couple of different tubes seems to indicate it's not the tube. If moving the tubes made a difference then perhaps you have a socket connection problem. Did you swap them back to see if the problem reversed itself again?

Yes, the problem reverses itself as the tubes are swapped.

Dyslexia rears its head ugly again...

I was getting the original 6AU6s mixed up. V1 is the one that needed to be replaced. V2 stays in its original position, new 6AU6A goes in V1 socket. All is well. Except for me of course
