Ham SK2 new user - Extra Voice Fx Amount knob mapping

I'm still working my way around the SK2. There's a few things that seem odd. I can set a Rhodes to the lower manual and then I want to set Tremolo for the Fx, all basic stuff. I want to set a fixed Trem Rate and then have the top panel Extra Voice - Effect - Amount knob act as Depth. But I notice it does Rate and Depth, which according to the manual page 93 item 6 is the intention, "synchronized", most annoying. Similarly with Delay, the knob changes Delay Time which is pointless, I need a depth control!

Have I missed some setting? I've programmed up synths and samplers (piano sounds for eg) for years, Mod wheel gets mapped as Depth. Rate stays fixed.

I have that wrong. Reading the manual again, the term "synchronized" probably means, controlled by. So Rate is controlled by the knob, Depth is not affected.
