  • Done screwed up... my M3

Against better judgment I tried the zap procedure to get percussion going again and I fear I screwed up the organ. Now a couple of keys don't play the lowest drawbar and it just sounds wonky in general. Before my handy work the organ sounded beautiful just the percussion didn't work. This was my night cap to an already messed up day.

Relax, you will fix it tomorrow.Check the brown drawbar wire (lowest on upper group).Maybe looks soldered and is shorting,or dirt in playing key contacts woke up from zapping?
I have never battery zapped a Hammond.
Have drawn big DCV from perc 12AU7A pin1(tube removed),keeping one hand behind the back.I'm here to tell you,so I must have followed procedure.
This DVM has a decent probe for pin socket use.Do this wrong and regret it,follow safety protocol to live through it.
Maybe a tube got bumped or the matching transformer wires to the amp (green/yellow braided shield) got shorted somehow.
Once it is determined no voltage drop exists(no perc),the wire goes back on the amp, after that verification. Then out comes the juice for a cleanup!
    You will get it right.

You can't hurt your M3 with a couple of 9 volt batteries, don't worry! Like Pete says, check for broken wires and also wiggle all the tubes in their sockets. They can sit there for decades and be fine but then sometimes a little bump or just looking at them sideways can reveal dirty tube pins or sockets.

So as I try to start to diagnose this what do I look for that would cause one key to play the lowest drawbar but the key right next is silent (when only the low drawbar is out). Does the drawbar run 'individually' to each key?
