  • M3 / AO-29 Effects Loop / Organ Mate mod question and help

I'm trying to Install a Line Level Effects Loop (Send / Return) in the right location for my M3 / AO-29 for use with Studio Rack Line Level Reverb.

I've seen multiple tap locations recommended and trying to find out with location tends to be the best spot.. Here are 3 approaches found in searching:

    1 - Twiggybush — Yellow Wire Method

2 - Organ Mate — Install Just after C9 - before Expression Pedal Loud / Soft

3 - MihevicB3 (John M) / Alex Matson — Installs in an ‘Alternate Organ Mate' location at C21 (Send) and R40/R39A (Return). This location seems similar to a Guitar Tube Amp effects loop being placed right before the Phase Inverter.

Anybody have any input, opinions, experience on these 3 methods?

    Thanks for any help

    Hi,

I installed a send/return into my AO29....see image. Seems to be the 3rd approach. It works very good with my organ mate....but the signal could be too hot for your studio rack line level reverb.

I dont think that the 2nd approach, which is the original organ mate install instruction for AO29 is a good choice, because you get a very unnatural reverb behaviour. For example, if you play a chord with reverb, and then quickly reduce the volume (e.g. to zero), you will also kill the reverb sound because the send/return is placed before the volume pedal. The volume pedal should not have any influence on the reverb of a tone which has already been produced.

      Thanks for the help

Ok so it looks like 2nd approach might NOT be good per your comment.

On the 3rd approach.. my Reverb unit has adjustable In & Out Level Controls, do you think that would help compensate for the potential 'hot' signal from the Hammond?

Also, On the 1st approach, Yellow Wire Method (Twiggybush), does anybody the the strength of the Signal at that point and how it might compare the the 3rd approach (C21)?

      Thanks again
