can someone give an illustration on how/where to adjust busbars on a hammond (don't send me to hammondwiki, show me)

and what could i do if a tonewheel is jammed?

I'd leave the busbars alone for now and check the wires connecting to the tonewheel generator for the missing tones. A chart can be found at, you guessed it, Hammond Wiki. Sorry about that. You can also get a chart from an M3-M100 service manual. You chances of having a broken wire at the TWG are much greater. The missing tone will also repeat so it may not be as bad as you think. Best get is to get the manual, read up on the finding missing tone section and the check the wires at the numbered connection poin at the TWG. Sounds complicated but not really after you see the manual.

There is an excellent section on this problem under "Practical Service Suggestions" in the service manual. There was a link to a .pdf version I uploaded to sendspace.com in another thread about the M-100 Service Manual. Post back if that link is no longer working and I'll upload it again. You really need the manual and to spend some time just sitting on the floor in back of the organ reading and learning how your instrument works.

H101 is right - before you go turning busbar shifters, check generator connections. Often repeatedly striking a key with a missing harmonic will clean the contacts. Instruments of this age that have not been played for some time or that have seen very little actual use need to be exercised for a while.

i was just asking in case that turned out to be what was needed. now i see that there are too many coincidences for it to be busbars, i'm sure it's something else. the quiet notes are all the same pitch, and the dead notes are always the same distance from the quiet ones.

I just checked, and the download link does still work. Look for the wiggly red arrow near the bottom of the page after navigating to sendspace.
