Woke up this mornin'
    My A* seems dead
    With no good warnin'
    Somethin's wrong with her head

    *A-100

Although she's been properly oiled & maintained (I thought),
I'll admit that in recent years she's only been fired up for a good romp every second month or so.
But today.....she ain't playin' at all.

She's getting juice, 'cause the little light above the switches comes onwhen the Run switch is flipped. But holding the Start switch up doesn't do squat - no revs, no sound, nada. (By hand, the TG shaft rotates easily, and the Start apparatus will move back and forth freely.)
So maybe I'm just too distraught (read: lazy) to think straight and figure out what ails her.

    Doctor?

I would check the opperation of the start switch with a volt/ohm meter (VOM) if you know how to use one and be safe with mains voltage. The resistance section (ohms)of the VOM can tell you if the start switch is making contact with the organ unplugged. You can also check for mains voltage at the start motor. That is a hottest plugged in! Be carefull.........high voltage!

H101: Thanks a lot for your reply and suggestions.

I'm on it, and will have these checks performed as soon as I can get my friend (whom I gratefully call The Professor :) over to give me a hand with it.
I'll get back here to report our findings.

The Professor came over this morning, took a look at the "diagrams" and the rig, and tested a few things.

Turns out the Start switch was worn out,
so we replaced it with a new one.
A's back to her good ol' self now. Yeah! (grins)

Afterward, while BSing over coffees, he mentioned that he had two Leslies sitting in his living room, that a fellow (in no particular rush) had dropped off for him to convert into stereo speakers!
Intrigued (to put it mildly), I took him up on his offer to check them out, and followed him back to his place.Well...they're the weirdest Leslies I've ever seen - a matched pair of Leslie models 430M and 430S. Both have a 12" woofer blowing down into a foam rotor, and a stationary horn tweeter blowing out the front. The "M" unit has a 1/4" jack input, tone controls (IIRC), a solid state amp, and is cabled up to the "S" unit.
So I made a note to research these babies, thanked him profusely, and suggested that, meanwhile, he not be modifying them in any way!

Very cool, I'm glad the A100 is again running smoothly.

Having owned an A100 (actually I still have one left in storage) with a 51 Leslie, I can say that you will be most happy if you find a 50(C), 51(C) or a 251 for the A100. Having a two channel Leslie and reverb in the stationary channel really helps the sound in a home setting. The 50 and 51 can sometimes be found for a bargain price compared to the 251 and a two speed kit added if you wish.

Although I'm not familiar with the models you mentioned, they are most likely built for electric piano or accordian. Unless they are available incredably cheap, I'd avoid them.
