Re: Hammond Concorde 2195

The Concorde has LSI chip technology and there isn't alot of preventative care required except to keep the organ clean and in a climate controlled environment if possible. You may have seen us discussing maintenance of Tone Wheel Generator Hammonds, but none of those parts are found in the concorde. If you've never cleaned circuit boards or checked connectors before you probably shouldn't do anything but play the instrument. There may be some glitches at first if the organ hasn't been in regular use for awhile, but most of them work out by themselves. Any lingeringproblems you encounter can be addressed here on the forum in terms of service issues. Welcome and congradulations. Enjoy your new instrument. If you are moving the organ yourself do so very carefully to avoid interior and exterior damage.

I'd do a little research around here on Concorde service problems. They, like all the LSI Hammonds, do in fact suffer quite badly from what's often called LSI Disease. It's been hinted at in the previous reply with the mention of cleaning connectors. You'll almost definitely become quite familiar with the insides of the Concorde, and cleaning up the inter-board connectors that are the cause of so many problems. Fear not, as you'll find that every question you may have about this has already been asked and answered, and we're always willing to help with advice.

Good news, is that 1) some (better make that just a few) Concordes seem to be immune to these problems, and 2) once you get them going right, they make a great sound.

Yes, play it first, but don't be alarmed if various sections might not work - especially after it's been moved.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

To illustrate what Andy said, my former Concorde, built in 1972 was always giving me problems, my current Concorde, built in 1975 has been very trouble free. It made some squaks after it was moved, and settled down after a few days. My best purchase was the service manual. Service is hard to come by in my area.

Also, to answer you question about preventitive maintenence, the only thing that will need oil is the Leslie Speaker motor. Depending on how often you play it, a couple of drops a year is sufficient. That can be purchased through your local Hammond dealer, or online at places like Goff Professional (who also have DeOxit contact cleaner, a must for the connectors).

Curious, if this is the organ you purchased: http://cgi.--------/Hammond-CONCORDE...1%7C240%3A1318
