Hi all! I may be buying a Leslie 900, with a combo preamp. But, I need some help. How would one go installing a 1/4" jack on the Hammond m3, so I could run a line from my M3, to the stomp box?? I heard somewhere that there has to be resisters, or somthing so the voltage doesn't get too high???? Help!! Thanks

Re: Please Help!!!
Yeah, it's a little complicated to explain here. Try this. There is an RCA jack on the M-3's volume box. Connect that to the preamp. ("stomp box" is for geetar players) RCA to 1/4" plug cable.

You should be able to get enough sound from that point. That RCA jack is actually an input however, there is expressed organ sound there.

Re: Please Help!!!
have a look on the Hammond Wiki site, there's a schematic there for a line out box. It's inexpensive and pretty easy to put together.

Re: Please Help!!!
The Hammond Wiki circuit works great, I have built several of them. You can buy a complete built line out box from Speakeasy Vintage Music. Their unit has seperate outputs for full range and bass. It will set you back about $60-70. It connects directly to the M3 speaker leads and comes with complete instructions.

Another thing that works is a direct box. These are used to connect speaker level outputs and/or line level outputs to a mixer for live sound. Berringer make one that has 1/4" outs that will work for your application. You would also need to get a cord with a 1/4' plug at one end and two bared wires on the other. A guitar cord with one end cut off and the wires stripped to attach to the M3 speaker leads will do the trick.

You will be connecting to the black wire and the green wire at the speaker. Leave them connected to the speaker (the speaker will still opperate) or place an 8 ohm 10 amp resistor in place of the speaker if you want the M3 silent. The Hammond Wiki schematic shows how to wire a switching jack to the output so the resistor is cut in line when the plug is inserted into the line out box making the organ silent but protecting the amp with the dummy load.
