Has anyone had this problem? I take my m3 on the road every weekend. It seems like if its out in the cold for a while and then I wheel it into the gig, it doesn't start right away. I hit the start switch and the motor makes a sort of grinding sound and won't start spinning. I've had the problem a couple times. Then the motor starts to run and when I engage the run switch, you can hear the generator slow down and stop. After a couple more tries, it starts up and runs just fine. I'm assuming its the temperature but if its something else, I'd like to take the preventative measures. Ioiled the organ a month ago according to the instructions I've gotten here. The caps are due for replacement and are scheduled as soon as the parts arrive. I may start bringing a hair dryer to speed up the process. Thanks guys.

Re: Chopped M3 not starting...
Hello.Yeah, I have had this problem before, and I think it is tempeture. My M3 is in my basement, and after a really cold night, it takes a couple tries to start it up in the morning, but then it runs fine. Mabye, bring it inside, and let it sit for a little bit, you know, to warm up.

Re: Chopped M3 not starting...
If you get a grinding sound and the start motor isn't engaging with the generator, you may want to check the pinion gear that slides on the generator shaft. This is the gear that the start motor engages with. It must slide freely for the start motor to engage properly. I have posted info about this on my site; www.bentonelectronics.com/serviceinfo.html under servicing the generator.</p>
