• B3 percussion won't work!

okay i dropped a C3 out of my truck the other day:( As painful as it was i was lucky! The cabinet was totaled but damage to the internal components was minimal. I plugged it in and everything(and I mean everything)worked just fine. A few hours later however, after moving it onto a bench the percussion stopped working. I swapped out all the preamp tubes first and it still didn't work. Also, if I turn the percussion adjuster on the preamp up i can hear the notes. They just don't decay at all. The percussion selector switches still work as far as switching volume, harmonics, and on/off. JUst no decay. The percussion actually works for a couple of seconds right after start up then fades out as soon as it warms up. PLEASE HELP!!!!

The percussion probably needs to be flashed. See. www.bentonelectronics.com/serviceinfo.html

Look under servicing the AO28 preamp under the percussion section.

the wood damage was only to the top, everything came apart though. The leslie, bench, and pedals were safe at home.

I have this SAME problem. It won't cut off if we turn the cut off all the way up. But at normal setting, if you're holding a note and flip the percussion on fast decay, you'll hear the one note get percussion then percussion will not work unless you flip the switch from on and off to get that one note again. Now, if it's on slow decay, I think I could get 3 notes in before it'd go out. I tried flashing it with 3 9v batteries on the K terminal and it hasn't worked. I used a tube tester on the two 6C4 tubes and they were great, and just for shits and giggles I tried two different tubes of those and it still didn't fix the issue....

                EDIT: I have an a100

Hi Adam, I'm surprised that 3x 9volts did not clear it. Were they in series or parallel? A 12 volt car battery will weld steel as it has high amps. You want those batteries in parallel for higher amps not series for 27 volts. Observe the big spark. When my percussion acted up I tried cleaning the switches but it did nothing. Sometimes a key can get hung up. Try pulling up on all of them individually. I cleared mine with a 9 volt wall wart transformer and 1000uf/16V capacitor across its leads. No trouble since.

I hooked them all directly to each other for 27 volts and it didn't clear it up.
Strangely, this happened right after we installed our 145 leslie.
