Evening all

Can anyone tell me whether the key channelsandkey combs of the 1970's non tonewheel spinets are interchangeable with the T series?

    Cheers

You might try throwing us a model number but in general, no. Some spinets used Pratt-Reed type keyboards. Many used the key cluster type like in a Concorde for example. A cluster of C-E and F-B. I can't think of one non-tone generator model that still used the TG type keyboards.

My T202 has bad key clack especially on the lower manual and the combs are shot. I keep seeing £0.99 mid seventies Hammonds on ebay and wondered if one could be parted out for the combs and key channels. I thought a home organ that had been in a living room for it's life might be a good source.

I guess they must have been different though because these wouldn't have the contact system below would they?

Have you actually looked at the combs? Some T-series had combs with rubber bushings. In cases of rubber bushings, adding lubrication will smooth them out. Also, the bushings can be replaced without replacing the actual combs.

Mine is a very early model with a 4 digit serial no and a proper flat pie scanner. When I replaced a couple of keys when I first got her I noticed a felt pad on the underside of each "finger" of the comb which wasn't filling the whole width of the key channel. There is also a felt pad in the key channel. I did not see any rubber in there.
