• NEED TO HOOK UP AN M3 AND A LESLIE 25! HELP PLEASE!!!

Okay, so i was all set to get my leslie 25 hooked up to my L-112. Then it broke (not electronically, it got light on fire). Anyway, I would love to hook this thing up to my M-3, then chop, seems like the ultimate gig rig! I have a 26-1 connector kit, and the leslie has an amp in it. Here's the unfortunate part... i'm an electronic baby, i know nothing, not even how to hook it up... Please help!

The best advice I have is to find a friend who can herd electrons, buy some beer, invite him or her over and check out this web site. It has all the info required by someone with some basic electrical skills. The 26-1 is the right kit for the M3 to Model 25, but the M3 does not have the 5 pin speaker cabinet plug, so it will require some minor wire cutting, splicing and grafting to obtain line voltage and line in connections from the M3. Tell your buddy to review the needs of tube amp loading and field coil speakers if that is not his or her area of expertise.

As it happens, I have an m-3 hooked into a leslie 25 myself. The 25 had a blown speaker and a blown amp, so I just removed the original speaker and put the M-3's pm speaker in the leslie (extending the black and green wires of course) The rotor motor runs on house 120vAC, so I just pluged a wall extension chord into it and away it went. Shortly thereafter I actually found an extension chord with a foot switch, thoughI had been planningto attach my own switch anyway.

Just doing that will let you know what things are going to sound like. The amp in the Leslie is a weak little thing and not much better that what is in the spinet right now.

If you didn't realize it already, the single squirl-cage rotor in the 25 will not give you the screaming start up of a treble rotor horn, divider, and driver the is really the "B-3" sound [you don't need a B3 , just a 122/145. I would challenge any purist to a blindfold test on that point]. That is why you got the 25 so cheaply!![:-*] It may not be what you want to take gigging, depending on what you plan to play.

Another alternate plan might be to find the most powerful guitar amp you can that has only one 12" speaker and mount that speaker in the Leslie's hole. Next get some help to do the mod of fitting a 1/4" plug for output. This would also allow you touse Reverb, Distortion, and other sepecial effects in the mix.

As as the previous post warns, If you have one of the earlier runs of m3 with a field coil rather than a PM speaker, you must make mods for that.

The speaker in mine is a PM, and the amp is actually quite powerful in my experience using it... I have a crossover hooked up before the speaker that goes to a treble speaker too and two mid range drivers. I have them all elevated on a box with the bass driver up there too, in that fashion, they all go into the spinning baffle in the bottom, hopefully it will sound a bit better when it's with the M3.

Where do i hook up the power from a cord to the speaker?
