• New user stopping in to say hello!

I've recently done a couple of searches for pictures regarding Hammonds and Leslies and a few times, pictures that came up were from this forum. So finally I decided I should join this little community. Some of you might know me from Hammond_Zone (or even HamTech...but don't hold that against me!!). At any rate, I guess I'll just give y'all a little bit of history about me. I've been playing piano most of my life but decided to take up the Hammond organ about 5 years ago. I've been hooked ever since. I went through various Clonewheels (Roland VK-8, Hammond XK-3, etc) over the years before finally getting my hands on a genuine vintage Hammond organ. I also went through a few Leslies in that time. First rotating speaker I bought was a Motion Sound Pro-145 (not really a Leslie but it was designed to emulate one). After a month I returned it and started looking for a Leslie. Not too long after that I found a Leslie 44W on Ebay for $500. Everything was stock and had I not been so stupid, I would still have it today. Alas, after having it for a few months, I sold it because by that time, I had put together a Leslie 142 using an empty 1971 Leslie 145 cabinet. About six months following that, I bought a 1963 Leslie 45 for $500. I used both the 45 and the 142 together with my Hammond XK-3 setup for about a year before selling both Leslies for a 1973 Leslie 122. You'd think by now I would've satisfied....unfortunately not. The cabinet was in terrible condition and had that nasty particle board crap. I sold it a month later...

After buying and selling all of those Leslies I finally started to realize I should've kept the Leslie 44W or the Leslie 45 and been done with it. What I really wanted was a vintage single speed Leslie. About that time I stumbled upon an Ebay auction for a Hammond CV organ. Long story short, I paid $650 for the Hammond CV and the PR-40 that came with it. I also purchased a Leslie 21H....I won't share the price I paid. I still think I got ripped on that deal. The Hammond CV was lovely though. Hardly a scratch on it. The PR-40 was in the same condition, if not better. I had the electronics in the CV preamp rebuilt and I rebuilt the 21H amp myself. The PR-40 has been sitting in a corner unused because of some problems with the amp.

I think if I could change one thing about my current rig, it would be to trade in the 21H for a nice 22H. Not that the 21H is a bad Leslie by any means, I just happen to like the later 60's era Leslies better. If anyone has a lead on a 22H, LET ME KNOW!!!

So now that you've read through all of that. I will leave you with some pictures of my current Hammond rig.

Hello, we're happy you let us know you were visiting the forum. I hope you won't feel too badly when I say I gave up the tonewheel bug last falland sold my m103 and later the H22 I had acquired for it. The H22 was an untested thrift store find, but I had already purchased a 40 ft cord and let both go for $100 --- a little less than I actually had invested in the set.

Hope you find your 22 soon. I can say they are really built! It should make your organ sound wonderful.

A little lag in the file time. I ended up posting twice. Sorry.

Hi! Nice rig there. I sure wish I could get back all the Hammonds and Leslies i've had over the years; I think quite a few of us go thru the sell/swap/regret stages before we settle down. I'm still hoping to find a BC, D or military-issue G for myself with either a 21 or 22H.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the nice pictures.

What is that circuit board next to your woofer? Also is that a Hamptone speed switching box in your organ at the preamp?

As you can see from my list, I have a hard time parting with anything!

Are you looking for a complete 22H or would a 22H amp to put in your 21H be sufficient?

          Hammonds: A; AB; B3; D; E; 6-M3's; 2-A100; T582C.
          Leslies: 3-31H; 21H, 22H, 4-44W; 46W; 25; 47; 45; 125; 50C; 51; 55C; 2-120; 122; 122A; 145; 147; 245; 770; 825; 2-102; 2-103; 300.
Wicks 2/5 pipe organ; Yamaha upright; Kurzweil Micro Piano & Micro B with M-Audio Oxygen 61; Yamaha DGX520; Wurlitzer 4100 (it came with a Leslie!). Peavey KB100 keyboard amp. Peavey Bass Guitar. Yes, I have A. D. (acquisition disorder) and don't want it cured.

            Hey Admiral,

The circuit is actually a Caribbean Controls 2 speed motor controller. For all intents and purposes, it's the same thing as the Hamptone MK1 controller. Allows me to obtain the chorale/slow speed.

The Hamptone box in my Hammond is in fact a speed control kit. It also has main/ensemble/echo control. The kit came with both halfmoon switches and the extra 6 pin socket to install at the base of the organ. One of these days I'm going to get that PR-40 up and running. Right now it works, but the reverb circuit doesn't work so only 2 out of the 4 speakers work.

You must need a warehouse to keep all of that gear in, haha. If I had the room (and money), I would've kept all the Leslies and XK-3.

I'll take either a full 22H or a 22H amp. When I bought this 21H, someone had already replaced the F15LL with this Emenence speaker. I want to replace the amp with a 22H amp and replace the crossover and lose the power resistor since it wouldn't be needed if I replaced the amp. I may even replace the Eminence speaker with either a Weber 15A200 AlNiCo speaker (P15LL reproduction) or a Jensen P15LL, if I can find one.

If you have a 22H amp available, email with all the details. My address is [email protected]

            Thanks!
